Daddy, What’s a ‘Charity’?

by Tom Durso on November 9th, 2007

Okay, my 6-year-old hasn’t asked that question yet, but, as Beth Kanter points out, getting your kids involved in philanthropy at a young age is a great way to build a lifetime of giving. And what parent wouldn’t want his children to have such noble aims? Beth is asking her readers how they encourage giving in their children, and I’ll be watching the post and its comments with interest. My daughter has the biggest heart imaginable, but so far her output of funds has been on behalf of toys — through no fault of her own, of course. Time, perhaps, for Dad to start teaching her about making a difference.
